Welcome to the Breakthrough Energy Fellows Innovator/Explorer application for Cohort 7! 

Typically, applicants have raised less than $2M of dilutive investment (including equity, notes, and SAFEs) prior to the September 2027 program start. Each technology must have the potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, at scale, by at least 500 million tons per year or meaningfully address adaptation to climate change. 

Innovator Application Process:

Concept Paper – Technology proposal and pitch deck

Full Application (for selected Concept Papers) – Further detail on the technology, business model, and impact of the solution (Invitations sent late 2026/early 2027)

Deep Dive Interview (for selected Full Applications) – Interviews to better understand technology and meet the teams (Early-Mid 2027)

Explorer Application Process:

Full Application/Interview (invite only) – Rolling basis depending on Breakthrough Energy priorities
